Lexica
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 10, 2026
This Lexica-specific policy supplements the Atlas Peak Media privacy policy and describes the data behavior of the Lexica iOS app.
Overview
Lexica is a vocabulary app for iPhone and iPad covering 37 languages with ranked word lists, FSRS spaced-repetition flashcards, natural voices for the first 500 words of each language, pronunciation scoring, character writing practice, and a travel passport you fill by studying.
Lexica does not require an Atlas Peak Media account, shows no ads, and uses no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Data Lexica Handles
Study progress: the words you have reviewed, your FSRS scheduling state, writing-practice progress, passport stamps and mementos, and similar progress. It is stored on your device.
Purchase status: Apple tells the app whether your Apple ID holds a Premium subscription or a vocabulary pack. Atlas Peak Media does not receive your payment-card information.
Settings: your languages, study preferences, audio preferences and notification preferences, stored on your device.
iCloud: when iCloud is on for your device, your study data is kept in your private iCloud account so it can sync between your Apple devices. Atlas Peak Media cannot read your iCloud data.
Audio and Pronunciation
The voices for each language's first 100 words are built into the app. When you download a language's next 400 words of audio, the app fetches a file from Atlas Peak Media's storage host (Supabase). The request carries no account and no study data.
Free pronunciation scoring uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. Your recording stays on your device.
Premium: when a Premium subscriber plays a word past the first 500, the word's text and language code are sent to the Lexica audio service run by Atlas Peak Media, which asks ElevenLabs for the speech and returns it. When a Premium subscriber checks pronunciation and has allowed it, the short recording is sent the same way to ElevenLabs for transcription. Lexica asks before the first recording is sent, scoring stays on your device until you say yes, and you can change the answer in Settings. The service first confirms the subscription with Apple's signed transaction. Recordings and text are used only to answer that request.
Third-Party Services
Apple: the App Store and StoreKit for purchases, on-device speech recognition, iCloud (CloudKit) for sync, and widgets.
Supabase: hosts the downloadable audio files.
ElevenLabs: speech and transcription for Premium subscribers only, through the Lexica audio service.
The voices in the app and in the downloads were made in advance with Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. Nothing you do in the app is sent to Google.
